This is interesting. Both Google and Web.de (a German ISP and services company) have recently joined Yahoo and USAtoday in producing customised versions of IE7 for download from their sites.
So far, so uninteresting – ISP’s and web companies have always provided versions of Internet Explorer with their own branding and search tools tacked on. What makes this a bit more interesting is the way that they’ve done it.
Following on the from my post a couple of days ago about how to get IE6 and IE7 running on the same machine, here’s a good post about how to get ASP.NET 1.1 running on IIS7 which is a problem people are going to increasingly run into as Vista starts to ship.
Since IE 7 went live last month (the English localization started going out over automatic update from mid-November) and with Windows Vista poised for general roll-out, you might find Pete LePage’s blog posting useful.
